Developed in America, West Coast Swing (WCS) is a flexible modern style of partner dance with a smooth look and elastic feel that is cherished by so many dancers all over the world. It can be danced to many styles of music including TOP40, pop, R&B, blues, swing, soul, acoustic, rock, Latin and much more.

In this linear dance, emphasis is put on good partnering technique, improvisation and interpreting the music making it very creative and OH-SO-MUCH fun!

It is very adaptable and can incorporate elements of many other dance styles such as Hip-Hop, Jazz, Zouk, Salsa, Ballroom, Latin, Ceroc & Modern Jive, Lindy Hop, Charleston, Cha, Samba and more! People who dance Ceroc & Modern Jive tend to relate to the popular music that WCS is danced to and the similarity of its patterns.

This style is suitable for everyone – even if you’ve never danced before. The best thing about West Coast Swing is that you don’t need to be experienced to have heaps of fun. Once you learn your basic patterns, well, the sky’s the limit! Warning – the more you learn about the multitude of variations, syncopations and techniques involved in West Coast Swing (along with hours of awesome social dancing ) the more addictive it will become!
